A woman was also killed in Kovacica, a town in the South Banat District of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, from smoke inhalation after a fire was started by lightning.

A man died in the same region's Backa Palanka town while attempting to remove power cables that had fallen over his house.

Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry said that at least 10 people were rescued in the Novi Sad and Backa Palanka regions, which were hardest hit by heavy rains and storms.
