Yves Saint Laurent designer Hedi Slimane is leaving

Hedi SlimaneApril 1, 2016, Paris, France - Kering and Yves Saint Laurent announce the departure of Hedi Slimane as creative and image director of Yves Saint Laurent.
An art history graduate from the Ecole du Louvre, Mr. Slimane was hired as an assistant in fashion marketing at YSL in 1997 and then quickly promoted to designer.

Mr. Slimane resigned from YSL in 2000. He declined the offer of creative directorship at Jil Sander and accepted the position of creative director for menswear at Christian Dior.

He exited Dior in 2007 and pursued a photography and art career before returning to the fashion fold in 2012 at the creative helm of YSL. Mr. Slimane was granted total creative responsibility for the brand image and all its collections succeeding Stefano Pilati as creative director.
