YTL PowerSeraya appoints CEO

YTL PowerSeraya, an energy company, announced that Chan Swee Huat, currently the senior vice-president of the group’s Trading and Fuel Management arm, will succeed John Ng Peng Wah as chief executive officer.


Mr. Chan brings with him more than 30 years of experience in business development, planning and management of power plant assets.

Having first joined the company in July 2001, he has since held several management positions before he took on his current role as Senior Vice-President of PetroSeraya – the Group’s Trading and Fuel Management arm – which was created in April 2007 as part of the Group’s diversification strategy to move into the non-regulated business.

Mr. Ng has been Chief Executive Officer of PowerSeraya Ltd. and YTL PowerSeraya Pte. Limited since May 2009.

Mr. Wah served as a Senior Vice President of Retail and Regulation for PowerSeraya Ltd.

He is an industry veteran with more than 20 years of commercial and engineering experience.

He also served as General Manager of Business at PowerSeraya.

He has been Director of YTL PowerSeraya Pte. Limited and PowerSeraya Ltd.

Mr. Ng holds a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from National University of Singapore and a Master of Science in Material Science from Carnegie Mellon University, USA.

He will remain to serve as an advisor to the Board of Directors, until the end of November 2013.
