Toshiba picks Nobuaki Kurumatani as CEO

Nobuaki KurumataniToshiba has named Nobuaki Kurumatani, former deputy president of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp., to be new chief executive officer.
Mr. Kurumatani serves as President of Japan since May 1, 2017 and Adviser at CVC Capital Partners Limited.

Mr. Kurumatani served as a Deputy President at Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. and served as its Director of Public Relations Department, Director of Corporate Planning Department, Director of Financial Accounting Department, Managing Director and Executive Officer.

He served as Deputy President, Head of Investment Banking Unit - Securities Business Department and Executive Officer at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation until April 1, 2017.

Mr. Kurumatani served as Senior Managing Director, Senior Managing Executive Officer and Executive Officer at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation since April 2010 and as its Representative Director.

He serves as a Director of Sharp Corporation.

Mr. Kurumatani served as an Audit and Supervisory Board Member of Sumitomo Mitsui Asset Management Company Limited.

He served as Executive Director at SMBC Nikko Securities Inc. until April 10, 2017.

Mr. Kurumatani served as a Director of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. since June 2012.

He graduated from The University of Tokyo with a Bachelor's degree in Economics.
