Steinway's CEO Thomas Kurrer to leave

Thomas KurrerSeptember 24, 2012, Waltham, Mass., USA - Steinway Musical Instruments announced that Thomas Kurrer will retire from his position as president and CEO of Steinway & Sons Worldwide by the end of this year.
Mr. Kurrer worked with Steinway & Sons for 23 years. He became a director of the Company upon his promotion to President of Steinway & Sons Worldwide in January of 2008. He had previously served as Managing Director of Steinway Germany since 1989 and was responsible for Steinway's total non-U.S. operations since 1994.

Between 1978 and 1989, Mr. Kurrer held various positions of increasing responsibility with the Otto Wolff-Group, a conglomerate of steel and machinery equipment companies. His last position with Otto Wolff-Group was Managing Director of Wirth GmbH. Mr. Kurrer was employed by the German-American Chamber of Commerce in New York from 1976 to 1978.

Mr. Kurrer received a law degree from the University of Goettingen in Germany and attended the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School.
