Southwest Airlines announces executive changes

Laura WrightAugust 30, 2012, Dallas, Tx., USA - Southwest Airlines, a low-cost carrier, announced that its SVP of finance and CEO, Laura H. Wright, has advised the company of her decision to retire, effective September 20, 2012.
Ms. Wright serves as the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Finance at AirTran Holdings Inc. Ms. Wright has been Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Finance at Southwest Airlines Co. since July 2004 and serves as its Chief Accounting Officer.

She served as a Treasurer and Vice President of Finance at Southwest Airlines Co. from 2001 to July 2004 and as its Treasurer from August 1998 to June 2001. From 1988 to 1998, Ms. Wright served as an Assistant Treasurer, Director Corporate Finance and Director Corporate Tax of Southwest.

Prior to joining Southwest, Ms. Wright served as a Tax Manager with Arthur Young & Company. She has been a Trustee of Pebblebrook Hotel Trust since December 2009.

She is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Financial Executives Institute and the North Texas CFO Forum.

Ms. Wright holds a BSA and an MSA from the University of North Texas. She will remain with the Company through yearend to assist with the transition.

Southwest Airlines also announced that Tammy Romo has been named to succeed Wright as Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer.

Ms. Romo has been serving Southwest as Senior Vice President of Planning. She joined Southwest in 1991 as Manager of Financial Reporting and has previously served as Director of Investor Relations, Vice President - Treasurer, Vice President - Controller, and Vice President of Financial Planning.

Prior to joining Southwest, Ms. Romo was an audit manager at Coopers & Lybrand, LLP.

As CFO, Ms. Romo will retain her leadership over the Financial Planning and Analysis, and Strategic Planning functions from her current role.
