Skanska USA announces management changes

Richard CavallaroAugust 19, 2014, Stockholm, Sweden - Skanska AB, a construction and development company, named Richard Cavallaro an executive vice president of Skanska AB and president and chief executive officer of Skanska USA.
Mr. Cavallaro joined Skanska USA Civil Northeast in 1996 as a senior estimator, playing a key role in successful bids totaling billions of dollars. He began his career as an airport engineer for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Since graduating with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from City College of New York, he has spent more than 30 years in the industry.

Mr. Cavallaro currently sits on the boards of several industry groups, including the General Contractors Association in New York City and the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, and serves as vice chairman of the New York Building Congress. Additionally, he is a board member at community organizations such as the Salvadori Center and ORT America.

Mr. Cavallaro, who also will be a member of Skanska AB’s Senior Executive Team (SET), succeeds Michael McNally who is retiring from the same role as planned at the end of the year.

Mr. McNally holds a BSCE degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Rhode Island. Beginning his career as an offshore field engineer in Cairo, Egypt, he has more than 35 years of construction experience and an extensive background in large, complex projects in a variety of market sectors.

Before coming to Skanska 16 years ago in 1998, he served as Vice President in charge of construction for Fluor Daniel’s Industrial Group. He currently sits on the national boards of directors for the ACE Mentoring Program and the Association for the Improvement of American Infrastructure.

Michael Cobelli steps into Mr. Cavallaro’s role as president and chief executive officer of the Skanska USA Civil business unit.

Mr. Cobelli has been with Skanska for his entire 30-year career, with a strong focus on project execution. He has personally been involved in constructing some of the most complex and high-profile heavy civil construction projects in the US.
