Marathon Oil announces executive appointments

Gretchen H. WatkinsAugust 29, 2012, Houston, Tx., USA - Marathon Oil Corporation announced that Gretchen H. Watkins has been appointed vice president of North America production operations (NAPO), effective September 1, 2012.
Ms. Watkins was Marathon Oil’s vice president of International Production Operations, where she was responsible for all operations outside of North America, including Marathon’s flagship businesses in Equatorial Guinea and Norway. She joined Marathon in 2008.

Prior to joining Marathon, Ms. Watkins held a number of international leadership positions at BP. These included director general for BP Vietnam and China E&P in Ho Chi Minh City, vice president of the North American Natural Gas Liquids Business at BP Canada in Calgary and president of BP Netherlands Energy E&P in The Hague.

Ms. Watkins also worked at BP's corporate offices in London within the Group Marketing organization, and held supervisory and managerial positions in Pipelines, Crude Oil Supply and Trading. She began her career with Amoco (later BP) as a facilities engineer in the Gulf of Mexico. Ms. Watkins earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.

Ms. Watkins will succeed Jim Bowzer who has elected to retire, effective September 1, after 30 years of service with Marathon Oil. Mitch Little, currently resident manager of Marathon's Norway business, has been named vice president of International Production Operations. Ms. Watkins' and Mr. Little's appointments are effective September 1, 2012.
