Jose Munoz named chairman of Nissan North America

Jose MunozNovember 25, 2013, Nashville, Tenn., USA - In a move to enhance performance across key areas within its North American operations, Nissan announced a number of leadership changes effective December 1, 2013, unless otherwise noted.
Nissan names Jose Munoz chairman of Nissan North America (NNA), effective January 1, 2014.

Mr. Munoz joined the company in 2004. He started as general manager of dealer development for Nissan Europe, and in 2006 became the managing director of Nissan Iberia, S.A. In 2009, he was named president of Nissan Mexicana (NMEX).

Mr. Munoz holds a doctoral degree in nuclear engineering from Polytechnic University of Madrid and a master's of business administration from Instituto de Empresa Business School in Madrid. He has also completed other executive management programs from Cranfield School of Management in the U.K. and INSEAD Business School in France.

Fred Diaz, currently divisional vice president, Sales & Marketing, Parts & Service, Nissan U.S.A., is appointed senior vice president, Sales & Marketing, Parts & Service, U.S.A., effective January 1, 2014.

M. Diaz had been CEO of Chrysler's Ram Truck unit since 2009 and also CEO of Chrysler de Mexico since 2011, responsible for all the Chrysler Group brands there. In 2011 he was named one of the 25 most influential Hispanic business leaders in America by the editors of HispanicBusiness magazine. Mr. Diaz also was instrumental in the 2013 'North American Truck of the Year' award going to the new Ram 1500 pickup truck.

Mr. Diaz earned a bachelor's degree in management with an emphasis in psychology from Texas Lutheran University and a master's degree in business management from Central Michigan University.

Airton Cousseau, currently regional vice president, Nissan Mexicana (NMEX), is promoted to managing director, NMEX, succeeding Jose Valls who recently was promoted to chairman of Latin America and Brazil. Mr. Cousseau will assume his role on January 1, 2014.

Mr. Cousseau joins NMEX with more than 20 years of automotive industry experience in the areas of Sales, After Sales and Marketing. He previously held a number of management positions at General Motors in Brazil and in Detroit, Mich. Most recently he was the executive director for Hyundai Motor in Brazil.

Mr. Cousseau has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Federal University of Parana, Brazil as well as advanced degrees in Marketing from the Universidad De La Republica, Uruguay and Finance from the Universidad De Montevideu, Uruguay.

Jon Brancheau, currently vice president, Nissan Marketing, fills the newly created position of vice president, Nissan Marketing Communications & Media.

Prior to this appointment in June 2010, Mr. Brancheau was general manager, Marketing, Global Infiniti Business Unit, with responsibility for the strategic development and execution of all global Infiniti marketing communications, brand management and strategy. Previously, he directed Marketing Communications and Media for Infiniti's U.S. operations.

Before joining Infiniti, Mr. Brancheau was director, Media Operations, for General Motors Corporation, with oversight of the buying and planning all media across the entire General Motors portfolio of brands for the U.S. operations.

Mr. Brancheau began his career in 1984 with Cadillac Motor Car. Following a variety of sales, service and marketing assignments with Cadillac, he joined Chevrolet to facilitate the launch of GM's highest volume product, the Silverado.

In 1999, he was promoted to director of Marketing for GM's Service and Parts Organization overseeing the GM Goodwrench and AC Delco brands. In 2003, Mr. Brancheau was appointed vice president, Marketing, for Saab Cars USA. He was subsequently promoted to director of Marketing for Cadillac.

Mr. Brancheau holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Western Michigan University.

Dan Mohnke, currently director, Marketing Operations, is promoted to the newly created position of vice president, Nissan Chief Marketing Manager (CMM) & Marketing Operations.

Scott Shirley, currently director, CMM, succeeds Mr. Mohnke as director, Marketing Operations.

Phil O'Connor, currently senior manager, Marketing Media, is promoted to director, CMM, succeeding Mr. Shirley.

Mayra Gonzalez, currently director, Customer Quality and Dealer Network Development (CQ & DND) Strategy, succeeds Mr Cousseau as regional vice president, NMEX, effective January 1, 2014.

Matt Burhart, currently director, Nissan Sales Operations, becomes director, Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) Sales & Marketing.

Anne Corrao, currently director, CQ & DND, succeeds Mr. Burhart as director, Nissan Sales Operations, effective January 1, 2014.

Jose Luis Montiel, currently director, Infiniti Operations, NMEX and Nissan Latin America and the Caribbean (NLAC), becomes director, CQ & DND, NLAC.

Paul O'Brien, currently senior manager, Human Resources Business Partner, Smyrna Manufacturing, is promoted to director, Human Resources, R&D, Total Customer Satisfaction, Manufacturing Engineering and Purchasing.

Additionally, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced the following senior management appointments: Bill Krueger, currently senior vice president, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Purchasing, NNA, is appointed executive vice president of Nissan subsidiary, JATCO (Japanese Automatic Transmission Company), in charge of the Americas region.

Prior to joining Nissan, Mr. Krueger held various management positions at Toyota's manufacturing plants. His last post with Toyota was as general manager at the Georgetown, Ky., plant. In addition, he held several management roles at General Motors Corp.'s Janesville, Wis., assembly plant and at Harley Davidson's Utilimaster Corp.

Mr. Krueger earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Marquette University and a master's of business administration from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He also holds a master's degree in engineering management from the Robert R. McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science at Northwestern University.

Automotive News named Krueger one of the publication’s "2011 Automotive News All-Stars." He was also honored with the 2012 Marquette University College of Engineering Professional Achievement Award.

Mr. Krueger currently serves as chairman of the board of directors of the Nashville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, and he also serves on the board of directors of EveryWare Global Inc.

John Martin, currently senior vice president, Manufacturing, Purchasing & SCM—Europe, assumes the role of senior vice president, Manufacturing, SCM and Purchasing, NNA, replacing Mr. Krueger.
