El Paso Electric: COO George A. Williams has resigned

El Paso ElectricSeptember 16, 2010, El Paso, Tx., USA - El Paso Electric announced that George A. Williams has resigned as senior vice president and chief operating officer.
Mr. Williams has 25 years of experience in the electric utility industry. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Operations for Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), a unit of Chicago-based Exelon Corporation.

Before joining ComEd, Mr. Williams served as Vice President of Operations at Entergy Nuclear South, as General Manager of Nuclear Assurance for PPL Susquehanna, as General Manager of Plant Operations for the Southern Region of Progress Energy Company, and as Director of Corporate Planning and Analysis at PECO Energy Company.

Mr. Williams received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Widener University and a master of business administration degree from Saint Joseph’s University.

Mr. Williams has completed the Wharton’s Executive Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania, the Leadership Development Program at the Center for Creative Leadership and Harvard University’s program for senior executives.

Mr. Williams is an active board member in several civic and professional organizations including the American Association of Blacks in Energy, the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies, the Executive Leadership Council, and Underwriters Laboratory.
