Eaton appoints James W. McGill as president of Electrical Sector

James W. McGillPittsburgh, Pa., USA - Eaton, a power management company, announced that James W. McGill has been named president of Electrical Sector, America’s region.
Mr. McGill has headed the Electrical Products Group since December 2012 and previously was president of the Asia Pacific region for the Electrical Sector. He had been executive vice president and chief human resources officer for Eaton and previously was president of Eaton’s Asia Pacific region.

Before that Mr. McGill was executive vice president of the Eaton Business System. He joined Eaton in 1994 and began his professional career with Westinghouse Electric in 1977.

Revathi Advaithi, currently president, Electrical Americas region, was named chief operating officer, Electrical Sector, on June 16, 2015. She will also have corporate responsibility for Eaton’s EMEA region.

Ms. Advaithi joined Eaton in 1995 as a manufacturing supervisor at the Shawnee, Oklahoma facility and progressed in several roles of increasing responsibility in the United States and Europe.

Ms. Advaithi left Eaton in 2002, rejoining the company in 2008 as vice president and general manager of the Electrical Components Division. She was later promoted to president of Eaton’s Electrical Sector’s Asia Pacific region before becoming president, Electrical Sector, America’s region, in April 2012.

Ms. Advaithi succeeds Thomas S. Gross, who is retiring from September 1, 2015.

Mr. Gross joined Eaton in 2003 as vice president, Eaton Business System, and most recently served as president of the company’s power quality and controls business.

Prior to joining Eaton, Mr. Gross was group executive for Danaher Corporation’s Motion Control Business. He was also president of Danaher’s Fluke Business and group executive of the Electronic Test and Measurement Business.

Before joining Danaher, Mr. Gross was president and chief executive officer of Xycom Automation and worked for Rockwell Automation for 20 years.

Mr. Gross has a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan.

Mr. Gross currently serves on the board of governors of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association and Ideastream, Northeast Ohio’s public radio and television organization.
