Dell finance chief Brian Gladden steps down

Brian GladdenJanuary 27, 2014, Round Rock, Tx., USA - Dell announced the appointment of Thomas W. Sweet as senior vice president and chief financial officer.
Mr. Sweet, currently vice president, corporate controller and chief accounting officer, succeeds Brian Gladden, who will remain at the company through the end of February.

Mr. Sweet was appointed Chief Accounting Officer in 2007. He joined Dell in May 1997, and has held a variety of executive-level roles in the company's finance organization, most recently serving as Vice President, Finance, supporting Dell's Education, Government and Healthcare business units. Before assuming that position, he spent a year and a half as Vice President, Internal Audit, leading the worldwide audit team and implementing Sarbanes-Oxley compliance activities.

Prior to joining Dell, Mr. Sweet spent 13 years with Price Waterhouse, providing audit and accounting services to a variety of technology companies. He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. Gladden serves as senior vice president, chief financial officer since 2008. Before joining Dell, he was president and CEO of SABIC Innovative Plastics Holding BV. Prior to that, he spent nearly 20 years with General Electric Company (GE) in a variety of financial and management leadership roles.

Mr. Gladden serves as co-chair of the Tech CFO Leadership Group, which advances critical policy issues that promote U.S. competitiveness. He is also a member of the University of Texas McCombs School of Business Advisory Council. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and finance from Millersville University in Millersville, Pa.
