Calgon Carbon announces the planned retirement of chairman

Calgon CarbonDecember 13, 2013, Pittsburgh, Pa., USA - Calgon Carbon Corporation, an ecology company, announced that long-time director and chairman of the board of directors, Seth E. Schofield, will be retiring at the end of his term and not standing for re-election.
Mr. Schofield will continue to serve as a Director and Chairman until the 2014 Annual Meeting of Stockholders expected to be held in early May, 2014. He has been a director of Calgon Carbon since 1995.

Mr. Schofield is an Owner of Base International. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of USAirways and USAir Group Inc. from 1991 to January 1996. He worked with US Airways and has held several corporate positions from 1960 to 1996. He joined USAir in 1957 and served as its Executive Vice President of Operations since 1981.

He served as Chief Operating Officer of USAir Inc., from 1990 to 1991, President since 1990 and Chief Executive Officer since 1991. He has been an Independent Chairman of the Board of Calgon Carbon Corporation since August 1, 2012. He served as the Chairman of USAir Group and USAir Inc., from 1992 to January 1996. He served as Chairman of the Board of Base International from February 1996 to July 2000.

Mr. Schofield has been a Director of Calgon Carbon Corporation since December 1995 and served as its Lead Director until August 1, 2012. Mr. Schofield has been a Director of Marathon Petroleum Corporation since 2011. He has been a Director of United States Steel Corp., since 2001 and serves as its Presiding Director. He serves as a Director of Network Telephone Corporation and USX Corporation.

Mr. Schofield is a Member of the Desai Capital Management Advisory Board. He served as a Director of Candlewood Hotel Company Inc. since May 2000. He served as a Director of Marathon Oil Corporation from 1994 to June 30, 2011. Mr. Schofield graduated from the Harvard Business School Program for Management Development in 1975.
