American Express appoints president, enterprise growth

American ExpressOctober 1, 2014, New York, USA - American Express appointed Neal Sample, enterprise growth’s chief information officer and chief marketing technologist.
Effective immediately, Mr. Sample will become President, Enterprise Growth and will become a member of the company's Operating Committee.

Mr. Sample has been Senior Vice President of Serve Enterprise of American Express Company since April 02, 2012. Mr. Sample served as the Chief Technology Officer of X.commerce, eBay's open development and commerce platform.

Prior to X.commerce, he was Vice President of Architecture and Platform Products at eBay, where he was responsible for leading the company's platform architecture, product strategy and managing the design and delivery of the developers program.

Prior to eBay, he was a senior executive at Yahoo! where he led the Open, Social, and Participation platforms. In addition to platform operation and development, his team was responsible for partnerships with Zynga, Facebook and Twitter. He has extensive technology and engineering experience and has spent most of his career developing and building platforms and products for emerging technologies.

Mr. Sample attended Stanford University where he received his MS and PhD in Computer Science. He also completed a post-doctoral research fellowship with the CIA Office of Research and Development.

Dan Schulman, former Group President of Enterprise Growth, has informed the company of his decision to leave American Express and join eBay.
