Xiaomi launched the all-new Mi MIX 2S in a number of markets, from Malayia to France, but if you are not a hardcore Mi fan you can forget it instantly.

Smartphone   Xiaomi follows Apple but to no avail
Xiaomi Mi MIX 2SLet talk about tech specs first. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S is powered by 2.8GHz octa-core processor and it comes with 6GB of RAM. This is not bad for an Android phone and it features 64GB of internal storage that cannot be expanded. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S packs a 12-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies. The camera has the AI engine but that's in fact just a piece of software that cycles through different modes depending on what is in the viewfinder.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2SThe Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S runs Android and is powered by a 3400mAh non removable battery. It measures 150.86 x 74.90 x 8.10 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 189.00 grams. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC and USB OTG. Sensors on the phone include Compass/ Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope and Barometer. The the front camera is at the bottom because this is the only place where there’s a bezel because the rest is the display. Verdict: Very unusual and awkward.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2SThe ceramic back is one of the most unique and eye-catching materials but it is a bit slippery so you have to have a case and that's the reason it is already included. There are no buttons on the front due to the full screen but the volume button and a power button below it are all on the right. On the bottom, the little bezel houses the front facing camera and the USB-C charging port and a single bottom speaker. There is no headphone jack on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S. An Apple way is clearly visible here.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2STalking about the software, there is the crowdsourced Android skin Miui. While it is familiar to the Miui community, we are not delighted. There is a quick ball for floating navigation keys, the complete second space where a user space can be created, and no app drawer. Here it follows Apple with full screen gestures from iPhone X. But this is implemented in an annoying way. The final verdict would be it's about everything and anything stuck into one device without being thinking to much how all those elements should work together. Definitively an experience to forget.
