This was announced at the meeting of Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, Valery Pyatnitsky with Trade Advisor of Egyptian Embassy in Ukraine Ahmed Amavi.

"This year our trade with Egypt has seen an upward trend; in the future we hope to sign a free trade agreement between Ukraine and Egypt," said Pyatnitsky.

The Egyptian side, in turn, is keen to cooperate. Amavi has stated that it is a very good idea, and first of all, a list of tax-free goods for mutually beneficial trade should be issued.

The deputy minister emphasized that Ukraine and Egypt do not directly compete in agriculture, thus, mutually beneficial bilateral trade in these areas is likely to develop.

According to Pyatnitsky, not only is Ukrainian market interested in exports but also in imports. For example, Egyptian fruit tends to be in great demand in Ukraine.
