Turkey will charge higher import taxes on over 400 more goods to shield local producers from competition during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a decree published in the Official Gazette on Sunday.

Turkey will impose import duties of up to 20 percent on the goods until the end of September.
Turkey generally charges a customs tax of 18 percent for items arriving from European Union countries and 20 percent for items arriving from non-EU countries. ■
