“With an extra million people expected to live in Sydney over the next 10 years, we’re rolling out hundreds of extra services and new buses to cope with demand,” Mr Constance said.
“We want hard working drivers with a good, positive attitude to join the team and help us deliver great services for customers.
“The best part about it all – is that no bus driving experience is necessary. State Transit will provide comprehensive training for budding drivers in safety, customer service and operating buses.
These jobs are flexible, can be part-time and offer work-life-balance.
“Women are particularly encouraged to consider a bus driving career given the opportunity for full time, part time and flexible working conditions.
“Together with reforms in the Inner West, we’re spending millions of dollars on new bus services including the B-Line on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
“This recruitment drive is part of my commitment to create extra jobs and deliver more services for Sydney customers.”
State Transit Bus Drivers operate public passenger, school and charter buses within the Sydney region, including Sydney’s South, Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, Northern Suburbs and CBD.
State Transit is continuing to recruit drivers for Inner West services prior to the franchising of Region 6 in 2018.
When a new private operator takes over Inner West management in 2018, all award staff, including drivers, will be guaranteed jobs. ■
