Russia and Turkey are in talks over the possibility of an air defense systems supply contract but no specific agreements have been concluded yet, Russia’s Deputy Defense Minister Aleksandr Fomin said.

Defense industry   Deputy Defense Minister Aleksandr Fomin:
“There is no process of supplying air defense systems. There is a process of negotiations.

“The talks are continuing but there are no supplies. Supplies will be possible only if agreements have been concluded but there have been no such agreements yet,” Fomin said.

The head of Russia’s Rostec corporation Sergey Chemezov last week said that Turkey had displayed interest in Russia’s air defense systems S-400 and negotiations over possible supplies were afoot.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Russia’s talks with Turkey on the issue were proceeding positively.

Turkish television broadcaster NTV said Russian and Turkish presidents might discuss the issue at a meeting of the Russian-Turkish High Level Cooperation Council in March.
