Russia and Cuba sign agreement on industries

A cooperation agreement on industry and technology was signed by Russia and Cuba as part of an official visit to Cuba by Russian representatives from this field.

The visit, which began on September 13th, is part of the 7th Working Group Meeting on cooperation in the industrial field held by the Intergovernmental Commission Russia-Cuba.

The signing was carried out at the Business Center of Industry in Havana. The agreement was signed by Georgy Kalamanov, deputy minister of Industry and Commerce of Russia and Cuban minister of Industry Jose Gaspar Alvarez.

The parties considered that the implementation of the agreement would strengthen economic and business ties between Russian and Cuban companies.

Gaspar Alvarez told the media that the agreements and cooperation projects are reached in key time for the recovery works to ease the situation left by hurricane Irma (September 5th to 11th), which lashed almost the whole country with winds up to 200 kilometers per hour.

Amid the distinctive projects included in the agreement are those related to the iron and steel industry, as bars for house construction and fertilizers.

The agreement also includes textile industry, transportation (railroads and aviation), as well as expert-level agreements.
