Qatar and Fiji agree on avoidance of double taxation

Qatar and Fiji have signed an agreement on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion, said Qatar's Ministry of Economy and Finance.

QatarQatar and Fiji have signed an agreement on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion, said Qatar's Ministry of Economy and Finance.


The agreement aims at avoiding double taxation in both countries and prompting cooperation in various areas that support the economic and investment exchange between them, the Ministry's statement said.

It was signed by Director of the Public Revenues and Taxes Department, Muftah Jassim Al Muftah, on behalf of Qatar and Permanent Secretary for Finance Filimone Waqabaca on behalf of Fiji, at the Department of Public Revenues and Taxes in the Ministry of Economy and Finance in Doha.

With the openness of the world economy, the development of commercial exchange between countries and the increase in the volume of cross-border transactions, Qatar has been seeking to enable people and companies carrying on activities in the country to deal with the tax burden resulting from taxes on investors' income in double way in the state where they live and the state where they carry on his activities.

Qatar is helping them by way of concluding agreements on avoidance of double taxation with such countries and now there are 33 such agreements in place.
