During his visit to Australia, Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevicius introduced Lithuania's preparedness and action plan seeking for membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to Australia's Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.
Cooperation OECD membership is a top priority for Lithuania
Linkevicius thanked Australia for constructive cooperation in the United Nations Security Council in 2014.
"Relations between Lithuania and Australia are based on common values: democracy, respect for human rights and active participation in the international arena. The relations are enhanced by a large and active Lithuanian community in Australia," the minister said.
Last weekend Linkevicius met with Lithuanian communities in Melbourne and Sydney, and with members of the Australia-Lithuania Business Council. ■
