"Iran is in possession of massive gas reserves and is ready to transfer natural gas to the two European countries," said Mr. Aliabadi, adding that Iran is providing a great deal of natural gas for Russia.

The gas field with 28 fields is located between Iran and Qatar and it holds reserves of 14 trillion cubic meters of gas. The South Pars Gas Field, the largest gas field in the world, is located in the Persian Gulf. It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers, the North Dome, are in Qatar's territorial waters.

The South Pars gas field holds 8 percent of total gas reserves of the world and half of the country's proven gas reserves.
