The Danish government has set up a new watchdog to help consumers "navigate the chemical jungle" and keep astride information on substances found in everyday life.
Excellent decision To navigate the chemical jungle
The watchdog has been allocated 17.4m Danish kroner to operate initially for three years.
Chemistry Watch is also meant to build strong international NGO networks so that knowledge can be shared across borders. The environment ministry says that it wants the new body to "strengthen the consumer voice in Europe and to support the Danish government's ambitious chemical actions in the EU". ■
