Czech Republic donates 1 mln euros to North Macedonia for border police strengthening

After the meeting with his Czech counterpart Jan Hamacek, North Macedonia's Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski declared here on Tuesday that the Czech Republic would donate 1 million euros (around 1.12 million U.S. dollars) to North Macedonia to strengthen the latter's border police capacities.

According to the donation agreement signed by the two sides, the donation would focus on the accomplishment of joint objectives of high and qualitative security standards in the people's interest.

"The funds are allocated for activities related to the capacity strengthening of the border and migration departments, for fighting organized crime and for the aviation units of the Interior Ministry," Spasovski said.

For his part, Hamacek said that his visit is a concrete example of the excellent bilateral cooperation of the two countries.

Moreover, Hamacek underlined that the Czech Republic will continue to support North Macedonia in its Euro-Atlantic integration process.

"This is the best way to help fight against organized crime, organ trafficking and all the problems we are faced with," Hamacek said
