Customs Union inflation at 1.5%

In January-February 2014 the inflation rate in the Customs Union member states stood at 1.5%, down 0.2% as against January-February 2013, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

In the first two months of 2014 the increase of prices totaled 3.6% in Belarus, 2.3% in Kazakhstan, and 1.3% in Russia.

In February (in comparison with January 2014) the growth of prices and tariffs made up 0.9% in the Customs Union, 2% in Belarus, 1.7% in Kazakhstan, and 0.7% in Russia.

According to the EEC, the inflation rate on an annualized basis (as against February 2013) reached 6.6% in the Customs Union, 15.7% in Belarus, 5.4% in Kazakhstan, and 6.2% in Russia.

In February 2014 the increase in prices for food in Belarus and Russia was higher than the prices for non-foods. Kazakhstan registered an increase in the prices and tariffs for paid services. According to the EEC, in February 2014 the national currency was depreciated in Kazakhstan, which affected the growth of prices and tariffs for consumer goods and services.

On the whole, in the Customs Union in January-February 2014 prices for food increased by 2.3%, those for non-foods – by 0.9% and for services – by 1.5%. the growth in the Belarus was 4.2%, 0.9% and 7.9% respectively, that in Kazakhstan was 2%, 2,2% and 2,8%, in Russia - 2,2%, 0,7% and 0,9%.
