Cuban Foreign Affairs Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla received his Spanish counterpart Alfonso Maria Dastis Wednesday, in his first day for his first official visit to Cuba.
During the meeting with his Spanish counterpart Rodriguez recognized the fluency of the talks between them and the potential of the economic, academic, cultural, commercial and political links between Cuba and Spain, highlighting the role of Spain as an important investor and commercial partner for Cuba.
Rodriguez also was grateful for the work carried out by Spain to strenghten the bilateral relations between Cuba and the European Union (EU).
He also talked about his recent official visit to Spain, which he regarded as very productive, and extended the invitation of the Cuban government to the Kings of Spain, Felipe VI and Letizia Ortiz, to visit the Caribbean island.
Dastis highlighted the symbolic nature of future visits of highest level between the two countries and expressed his willingness to work together with his Cuban counterpart to concretize them.
As part of his program of activities in Cuba, the Spanish Foreign Minister will also participate in the award ceremony to the Historian of the City of Havana, Eusebio Leal, with the Isabel the Catholic Grand Cross Order, in the Palacio del Segundo Cape. ■
