China to implement tougher regulations in construction sector

As of December 1, China will implement tougher regulations in the construction of buildings for government institutions and public organizations, according to a decree approved by the Council of State.

The measures, signed by Prime Minister Li Keqiang, include the approval, budget, supervision and legal liability to execute new construction works, but also remodeling and enlargement projects.

According to the decree, public buildings shall submit their proposal attached to an investigative report and a preliminary design that must comply with the principles of simplicity, practicality, security and energy saving.

Those approved shall strictly follow the established standards and be executed with funds from the State.

The decree notes that any violations will be sanctioned according to law.
