CanadaCanada posted a March trade surplus of 79 million Canadian dollars ($72.13 million), versus market expectations for a C$300 million surplus, according to economists at Royal Bank of Canada.

The March miss, though, was offset by a major upward revision to the previous month's figures, which showed February produced a trade surplus of C$847 million, compared to the previous estimate of a C$290 million surplus.

Exports declined 1.4% month-over-month in March to C$42.70 billion, while imports advanced 0.4% to C$42.62 billion. On a year-over-year basis, Canadian exports increased 7.3%.
