The official congratulated José Luis Peroni, Trade Officer of Peru in Toronto, for enabling to increase non-traditional Peruvian exports to Canada, and the tourist flow to Peru.

Peroni was also recognized due to the work carried out while promoting investments and the spread of the Country Brand.

Excellence Awards yearly recognize the work by people and organizations that have excellent performances in promoting business collaborations between both nations.

Minister Silva said non-traditional exports to Canada increased by 34% in 2014, compared to 2013, whereas the tourist flow of Canadians traveling to Peru rose by 8.3%.

In addition, direct and indirect investments and joint-ventures [between these countries] were boosted, as well.

Canada is Peru's fourth exports’ market target. It has shown considerable growth in 2014, in the non-traditional agricultural (51.4%), livestock (105.3%) and metallurgical sectors.

The main non-traditional products exported to Canada were: Fresh grapes, quinoa and avocado. In certain cases, these products had nearly growth rates of nearly three digits.
