The State Prosecution announced that Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov had asked the Director of the State Security Agency, DANS, to check “all available information… relating to persons holding high public offices” concerning their offshore holdings.

Criticising the Prime Minister, Boyko Borissov, and his team for inaction, and for focusing on less relevant matters, the President on Sunday said: “It is time that they started digging into the offshore accounts, properties and firms of politicians and their ‘front men’ instead of looking for contraband cigarettes in garbage bins.”

“The available information needs to be presented urgently and with maximum concreteness,” Tsatsarov wrote to DANS Director Dimitar Georgiev.
