President Dilma Rousseff said the federal government will launch in June a new phase of the concessions program to the private sector.
Brazil A new phase of the concessions program
“We believe that it [the concessions program] will be as successfull as the first one. This one will be a slightly broader concessions program because it will offer not only highways, but [also] railways, airports, ports and other concessions”, she said.
In the first phase, the government passed on to the private sector 25,000 kilometers of highways, which must reach R$ 32 billion ($10.6 billion) in investments during the contract period.
Through the concessions, the government attracts investments from the private sector for the expansion and improvement of the country’s infrastructure. ■
