The 2.83km zip line allows thrill seekers to jump from the peak off the UAE's highest mountain, the Jebel Jais, the Associated Press reports.

The Jebel Jais Flight zip line launches from 1,680m above sea level, at the peak of the Jebel Jais Mountain.

Getting to the ground from the peak actually takes two zip line rides, with the initial nearly 3km ride from the peak and another shorter 1km ride to the ground.

It was awarded the Guinness World Record for world's longest zip line on Wednesday, January 31.

It was constructed in Ras al-Khaimah, one of the lesser known Emirates states as part of a push to increase tourism in the country.

Ras al-Khaimah currently gets 1 million tourist visitors a year and aims to drive 100,000 of them to use the zip line.
