Sand Sculpture Festival
Art in Russia   Thousands will gather to watch the magic unfold on the banks of the Neva

Long a highlight of St. Petersburg, the International Sand Sculpture festival is found in the heart of the city, on the beach of the Peter and Paul Fortress, on 4,000 square meters.

The huge workshop will receive world-class sculptors, forming beautiful and intricate works of art entirely from sand.

Thousands will gather to watch the magic unfold on the banks of the Neva, surrounded by the panoramic views of the Hermitage and the Rostral Columns. 3000 tons of sand have been brought for the construction of sand sculptures on the beach.

To give the sculptures durability and preserve the original appearance until the end of the exhibition, they will be treated with a special solution that protects against weather phenomena. So there is no doubt that they will retain their original appearance until the end of the festival in mid-September.

Where: Peter and Paul Fortress, Petropavlovskaya krepost 3, St. Petersburg, Russia
When: Until September 8, 2019
