Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, grandson of the original founder of the Porsche company, was always interested in the unusual and this fascination brought him success. He was the one who designed the Porsche 911, a car which not only become a design classic but also went on to typify just what a sports car really is – just one example of many products that Professor F. A.Porsche designed throughout his career.
In 1972, Professor F. A.Porsche set up his Porsche Design Studio in Stuttgart, relocating to Zell am See in Austria two years later. Over the decades, he became responsible for numerous classic gents' accessories, such as watches, glasses and writing implements, all of which were marketed worldwide under the brand name of "Porsche Design".
Additionally, a great many industrial products, domestic appliances and consumer goods were developed for internationally renowned customers, bearing the name "Design by F. A. Porsche". Since 2004, the studio in Zell am See has been headed by Roland Heiler. Professor F. A. Porsche is now honorary president of the Porsche Design Studio advisory council.
