Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting BrakeShooting Brakes, exclusive two-door sports cars, a combination of luxury and style, were popular in England in mid-20th century. A half of the century later, Mercedes-Benz brings the concept back with its CLS Shooting Brake and the result is spectacular.

CLS Shooting Brake is powerful sports car but with five seats and a large tailgate as its trademark. There's no doubt that it has a potential to become the role model for a new market segment.

Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting BrakeThe new CLS sets high standards when it comes to the design and quality of the interior and its main characteristic is Mercedes at its best: elegance plus innovation plus handcrafted perfection. The interior is lined with high-quality carpet, the hand-stitched material is incorporated into the sideliners with leather appointments. A unique feature is the wooden luggage compartment floor, which serves to underscore the hand-finished nature of the interior.

Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting BrakeCherry tree wood is a classic among fine wood species and contrasts perfectly with the inlaid smoked oak and aluminium rails. This affords the luggage compartment a touch of elegance we can find on yachts. The Shooting Brake offers five interior colours, five trim designs and also three qualities of leather to choose from. Customers have a choice of three exclusive wood types: high-gloss brown burr walnut, high-gloss black ash and satin-finish light-brown poplar.

Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting BrakeNow, let see some numbers, equally impressive. CLS Shooting Brake is almost five meters long, it has a load volume of 590 to 1550 litres, the luggage compartment offers a lot of room despite the sporty lines of the roof, and is easy to use thanks to the automatically opening tailgate. When must mention that the standard air suspension at the rear helps to ensure optimum road holding.

So, what's under the bonnet? The new CLS is available with four different engine variants, and two of them are engines. Common to all of them are the 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission and the ECO start/stop function. Two models are available with all-wheel drive and they offer plenty of power.

Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting BrakeThe entry model is the CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY with 150 kW (204 hp), above it here are the two six-cylinder models: the CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY with 195 kW (265 hp) and the CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY with 225 kW (306 hp). The top-of-the-range model, and the most interesting one if we must choose, is the CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY with a V8 biturbo engine with 300 kW (408 hp). All those beasts have one interesting thing in common: Active Park Assist. The CLS Shooting Brake can park automatically. Very nice.

Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting BrakeThere are also more than a dozen driving assistance systems that help driver to prevent traffic accidents. Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist are available as part of the Driving Assistance package Plus, in combination with DISTRONIC PLUS, BAS PLUS and the Pre-Safe Brake. Both assistance systems are able to detect an unintentional lane change or vehicles in the blind spot and they can correct the direction of travel by gentle brake intervention if the driver ignores the visual or audible warnings.

The new CLS has many innovative features but we will leave them to you to discover. CLS Shooting Brake is an exciting Mercedes-Benz model, equally suitable for faster drive, easy cruising to the theatre or just enjoying a glass of good wine in it. Simply said, it's the one of the most exciting Mercedes-Benz models.
