U.S. to help Ukraine get over winter without Russian gas

U.S. Department of Energy will send experts to Ukraine to help Kyiv avoid possible disruptions of energy supplies from Russia, reports U.S. Embassy in Ukraine on its Facebook page.

They will think of ways to respond to energy shortages.

Negotiations between Russia, Ukraine and the European Union on extending the Russian gas transit through Ukraine will take place on September 19.

Ukraine's current contract with Russian company Gazprom for gas transit was signed in 2009 for ten years.

Starting from 2020 Russian company intends to reduce gas transit through Ukraine as much as possible.
