Ukraine buying less Russian gas in April

The amount of natural gas that Naftogaz Ukrainy imports from Russia has steadily fallen since the beginning of April, according to data from Central Dispatching Department of the Fuel and Energy Complex (CDU TEK).

This included a decline of nearly 25% in the first eight days of the month, according to data from Central Dispatching Department of the Fuel and Energy Complex (CDU TEK).

The daily import volumes declined in each day of the eight-day period, from 83.9 million cubic meters on April 1 to 64.1 million cubic meters on April 8.

The price Ukraine pays for Russian gas rose to $385.5 per 1,000 cubic meters as of April 1 from $268.5 after Gazprom canceled the discounts that were in effect in the first quarter. On the next day, April 2, Russia renounced the "Kharkiv agreements," which sent the price Ukraine pays to $485.5 per 1,000 cubic meters.
