Huge increase in fruit exports from Belarus to Russia

Over the last several months, Belarus has become an important trading partner for Russia in the supply of fruit, supplying even citrus or kiwi fruit, which the country doesn't produce at all, reports the fruit-inform.com.

Since the introduction of the embargo on agricultural products from the EU on August 1, 2014, up until the end of July 2015, the volume of Belarus' fruit exports to Russia has doubled, totalling 672.1 thousand tonnes, compared to 325.1 thousand tonnes in the same period a year earlier.

The export of pears has increased by almost three times, apple shipments have grown by 96%, citrus fruits by 60% and stonefruit exports are 103% greater than in the previous season. Belarus also exported up to 10 thousand tonnes of kiwis.
