The Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge near Philadelphia connecting Pennsylvania and New Jersey is closed due to structural problems and it is not known for how long it will stay closed.

Traffic   More than 42,000 vehicles every day
On Friday, during a routine check of a painting project, a fractured truss piece was discovered on the bridge. Engineers from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and New Jersey Turnpike Authority are assesding the damage.

Crews are working to stabilize the bridge that suffered a fracture due to changing weather conditions. How, structural engineers must take a look at the whole bridge to rule out any other damage and that requires full-scale analysis.

The briged, owed by the two toll agencies, carries more than 42,000 vehicles per day in both directions.

Sinced that damaged truss must be repaired before the bridge can open, it is currently unclear how long it would take to make the repairs and when the bridge will be safe for traffic again.
