The distribution companies of liquefied petroleum gas (LP) have reported the increase in the theft of this fuel and losses by a billion pesos (about 53 million dollars) so far this year, as was known today.

Only in the so-called Red Triangle, a region bordering the states of Puebla, Tlaxcala and Veracruz, this illicit grew by 56 percent.

This is what Luis Landeros, president of the Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Distributors, said.

He said that 70 percent of the losses correspond to Petroleos Mexicanos and the rest to the distribution companies.

The theft is estimated at about 58,000 tons per month of this fuel used in most homes in the country.
