Building industry in Portugal continues to see recoveryStaff Writer | August 30, 2016
The number of new construction orders in Portugal during the second quarter of the year increased 20.7 percent, compared with the same period in 2015.
Portugal Construction went up by 26.2 percent
Data from the Portuguese National Statistics Institute (INE) released on Tuesday said the main reason for the less favourable growth was the slow-down in the number of engineering works, which went up by 14.6 percent between April and June, while during the first quarter that number had soared by 49.3 percent.
On the other hand, building construction went up by 26.2 percent in the second quarter, the INE said, compared with just 17.2 percent between January and March. ■
