The initial draft provided that the vouchers would be used to buy non-Diesel Euro 6 cars, hybrid or electric cars as well as other types of electric vehicles. However, Bucharest mayor Gabriela Firea amended the project and also included electronics and electric appliances on the list of things that can be bought with these vouchers, Digi24 reported.

The City hall will grant a total of 5,000 such vouchers worth RON 9,000 each, the total value of this program amounting to RON 45 million (EUR 9.7 million).

The vouchers issued by the City Hall can’t be used together with the vouchers granted through the Government-backed Cash-for-Bangers program (Rabla).

The General Council also approved a program granting RON 250 (EUR 54) vouchers to retirees in Bucharest for buying glasses.
