Belgium's consumer price inflation accelerated in September to the highest level in twenty months, figures from Statistics Belgium showed.

The latest rate of inflation was the strongest since January 2014, when it amounted to 1.14 percent, the agency said.
The annual increase in September was largely due to the rise in prices of electricity and vegetables.
Excluding energy, inflation eased to 1.41 percent in September from 1.49 percent in the preceding month. Similarly, core inflation, which excludes energy products and unprocessed food, moderated to 1.17 percent from 1.37 percent in August.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.07 percent in September. ■
