The Bangladesh Bank (BB) official told Xinhua that "the flow of inward remittances surged about 11 percent year on year to $1,115.57 million in the last month."

The inflow of remittances would likely rise further this month as non-resident Bangladeshis will send home more money for their relatives to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha, one of the largest Muslim festivals, which is expected to take place on Sept. 1 this year.

The amount of remittance from about 10 million Bangladeshis in the last fiscal year spanning from July 2016 to June 2017, stood at $13 billion, over 10 percent higher than the same period a year ago, the official said.
