WestJet Encore Bombardier makes emergency landing in Kelowna, B.C., Canada after gear problem

A WestJet Encore flight with 78 people on board landed safely in Kelowna, British Columbia, despite experiencing landing gear problems.

WestJet flight 3239 departing from Kelowna International Airport for Edmonton advised the air traffic control tower that a mechanical issue had occurred and that it was required to return to YLW.

Fire crews scrambled as the Bombardier Q400 called in the gear problem to the Kelowna International Airport tower.

The plane circled over the lake to burn off fuel, as it reportedly had 30,000 litres on board.

The aircraft landed safely at 1 p.m.

As a safety precaution, emergency response teams were dispatched.
