In both cases, authorities explained that the objective of the measure is to relieve the current overload in quarantined areas in the two largest cities in the country.

The order, approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, instructs the Civil Aviation Administration to prioritize flights carrying foreigners who want to leave the country, regardless of the airport and the airlines used with that purpose.

In its latest report on the Covid-19 situation in Vietnam, published on Thursday night, the Health Ministry said that there are 153 confirmed Covid-19 cases, most of whom are Vietnamese citizens who returned from abroad and foreigners. So far no deaths have been reported in the country due to the epidemic.
