Turkey hosts world's more refugees than any other country

On International Migrants Day, anually held on December 18, Turkey published data on the refugees established in its territory, and ranks first host country in the world.

Turkey has been hosting 3,611,834 registered Syrians, according to figures provided by the Interior Ministry on December 6, some 47.5 percent of them are 18 years old. The number of Syrians sheltering in camps was registered as 144,036.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu stated in an information that the annual cost of hosting a Syrian refugee in Turkey is 3,000 Euros, and that since the beginning of the conflict in Syria in 2011, the country has spent some $35 billion USD in humanitarian assistance.

The document stated that Turkey is providing free education and health services to Syrians, noting that 650,000 children are able to get education in schools. The healthcare service cost of an individual Syrian is $1,000 USD.
