President Donald Trump donated his second-quarter salary of $100,000 to the Department of Education, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos announced.

DeVos, accepting the check from White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said the money would pay for a camp devoted to STEM - science, technology, engineering and math - careers.

"Today's and tomorrow's economy requires students prepared for STEM careers," DeVos said at Wednesday's daily press briefing.

"That's why we've decided to use the president's second-quarter salary to host a STEM-focused camp for students at the Department of Education."

"We want to encourage as many students as possible to pursue STEM fields," she added.
