Three miners were killed and two injured after an underground explosion in Turkey’s Black Sea region early on November 21.

Five miners involved in rescue efforts were also hospitalised after they inhaled gas underground.
An investigation into the incident has been launched, according to Zonguldak Governor Erdogan Bektas. The operator of the mine has been remanded into custody, judicial sources said on November 22.
Turkey’s deadliest mining disaster occurred in May 2014, claiming the lives of 301 workers in the western town of Soma. ■
